Visiting Downtown Las Vegas for the Winter

As an incredibly popular getaway destination, Vegas doesn’t really have an off season. Our “high season” for tourism lasts a staggering ten and a half months from January to mid November. In 2014, over 41 million visitors graced the streets of Vegas for some fun. The period between Christmas and Valentine’s Day is still heavy because of winter holiday time off.

Undoubtedly, New Years is one of the most busy holidays of all with as many as 300,000 people squeezing in for a memorable night of ringing in the New Year in Sin City. Booking a place to stay early is crucial to ensure that you snag a deal and more importantly, a place to get warm after the ball drops. Oasis at Gold Spike still has rooms available for New Years weekend 2016. Mere blocks away is the heart of downtown at the Fremont Street Experience, which will host the Downtown Countdown.

From 5:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., ring in the 2016 year on Fremont with a giant street party. The theme is TributePalooza and will feature 13 of the greatest tribute bands including Rio (Duran Duran), Generation Idol (Billy Idol), Fan Halen (Van Halen), No Duh (No Doubt), Red Not Chili Peppers (Red Hot Chili Peppers), The Rising (Bruce Springsteen), Police Experience (The Police), Rockin the Paradice (Styx), Wanted (Bon Jovi), The Who Generation (The Who) Pyromania (Def Leppard), Double Vision (Foreigner) and Don’t Look Back (Boston).

Admission for Downtown Countdown is $30 per person if you purchase online before Christmas. After December 25, tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased online or in-person at any of the Fremont Street Experience member hotel-casinos, or at the event gates on the evening of December 31.

After you greet 2016 with hundreds of other Fremont friends, you can comfortably walk the short distance to Oasis at Gold Spike and retire for the evening or continue the party at Gold Spike, where DJ Wizdumb will be playing music from 10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. At a boutique hotel of 44 rooms in the heart of downtown, we’re sure to fill up fast. Book your room ASAP with Oasis at Gold Spike to ensure your stay for New Years 2016 now.
