Visiting Vegas During The Pandemic? Here’s What You Need To Know.

If you’re planning on visiting Las Vegas during the pandemic, you’ll be happy to know that the city is nearly restriction-free according to AARP as of March. Plus, new attractions are opening as tourists return. When the city’s non-essential businesses shut their doors two years ago in March of 2020 in hopes of curbing the spread of the virus, it was the first time The Strip had shut down since Monday, November 25, 1963 – the day of JFK’s funeral.

Mask Mandate lifted February 10th

The normal 24/7 flood of tourists and traffic jams and the flashing advertisements about shows and other exciting events were suddenly replaced by families on bicycles and small groups of pedestrians along with LED marquees offering best wishes to the city. Indeed, it was a strange sight to behold for residents of the city. Several months into the pandemic, the tourists gradually started returning and it is now fully opened. Now that the statewide mask mandate has been lifted (eff. 2/10/22), the tourists have been returning – in droves!

Who can visit Las Vegas?

Las Vegas is not restricted to domestic travelers and international travelers who’ve been fully vaccinated. Currently, there are no COVID-19 travel bans within the US. However, unvaccinated travelers from outside the country are no longer allowed entry with few limited exceptions such as unvaccinated children under 18 years of age. As it currently stands, Las Vegas and the rest of Nevada have no testing or vaccination requirements for domestic travelers who are vacationing in Las Vegas and the rest of the US.

The Hotels and Casinos – Safety Protocols

Although the majority of COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, hygiene and strict sanitation measures that were implemented in the beginning of the pandemic are still being followed in hotels and casinos today. Every hotel website should have current COVID-19 guidelines posted. So be sure to check with the hotel you’ve selected about this before heading to Las Vegas. The downtown has sprung back to life and the boutique hotels dotting the area have a room for you to relax and unwind in personalized comfort.
